In the lives of Anna and Bob Bolster

Setting the Stage

Jun 16, 2008 | Comments

Last week, we thought there was a high possibility that baby girl was going to come into this world on Friday. That was fine and dandy until I realized the day and the date– Friday June 13th, 2008.

My mother, hence Grandma, has special aversion to any Friday the thirteenths. Her aversion is so bad, that my little sister Becky was very close to being born on a Friday the thirteenth. My mother wouldn’t have it; she worked really hard to get the baby out on Thursday the twelfth instead of Friday the thirteenth. So having baby girl come last Friday would have made Grandma squirm.

Friday evening, I look down at Anna’s belly and said “Baby girl you are grounded for six hours. You can’t come out until today is over”.

Immediately, Anna and I both felt a kick her in stomach. Baby girl didn’t like being grounded. She already knew.

I thought: She’s already sassy? Now I know I am in trouble.

Kate was born on Friday the 13th. And Jill was even induced! Sounds like she is opposite from Grandma.

And new baby sounds just as sassy as Kate.

I was born on a Friday the 13th and I haven’t had any problems (that I am aware of) because of it! Hope all is going well!
